Pastor Mark Compton
Pastor of the Open Bible Tabernacle of Shenandoah Junction WV
Principal/Owner of the Open Bible Tabernacle Christian Academy
Owner of Mamaw's Little Penguins
My wife, Janet, and I have been in ministry for approximately 30 years. We are blessed with three beautiful daughters and eight wonderful grandchildren. We previously pastored the Millville Pentecostal Church in Millville, WV, for seven years. In 2021, we founded Open Bible Tabernacle in Shenandoah Junction, WV, where we continue to serve with faith and dedication.
In 2022, we opened OBTCA, our Christian academy, originally to provide a strong faith-based education for our grandchildren. Since then, it has expanded to serve the public, offering higher Christian education to families seeking a nurturing learning environment.
With a heart for serving our community, we established Mama Chelle’s Childcare Center in July 2023 and turned it into Mamaw's Little Penguins in March 2025. Our mission is to support families by providing affordable, high-quality childcare in a safe and loving environment. I was raised in a small town in Howard County, Maryland, and now call Ranson, WV, home. I attended Glenelg High School and, though I was set to graduate in 1979, I earned my GED ten years later. My journey has taught me that with determination and faith, success is always within reach. Our long-term vision is to one day own the properties where we operate our childcare center and school, ensuring a stable foundation for the families we serve. Additionally, as we continue to provide meals to the needy and homeless in our area, we hope to establish a facility that offers both shelter and nourishment. Another key goal is to create a transitional housing program for single mothers, helping them build a better future for themselves and their children. With all the responsibilities I carry, there isn’t always much time for hobbies, but when I can, I love to play a round or two of golf—especially when it supports a fundraiser or benefits our community. I also enjoy working on light construction and remodeling projects whenever I have the opportunity.

Allison Dunn
Director
Hi, my name is Allison Dunn, and I’m one of the directors at Mamaw's Little Penguins. I’m 34 years old and have been working in childcare since I was 14. I’ve been married for eight years to my husband, a firefighter and paramedic here in Jefferson County. Together, we have two beautiful little girls, ages six and four.
I was born and raised in Maryland and moved to West Virginia in 2001. I’m the daughter of Pastor Mark, the founder of Open Bible Tabernacle, as well as the owner of Open Bible Christian Academy and Mamaw's Little Penguins LLC.
In my free time, I love spending time with my family and singing. I also enjoy curling up with a good book to relax.
I hold certifications in CPR, First Aid, and WV STARS, and I’m currently in my final semester of the Apprenticeship for Child Development Specialist (ACDS) program. Once I complete this semester, I look forward to continuing my education and pursuing an associate’s degree.
I believe in creating a space where kids can be themselves, feel safe, and learn at their own pace. Every child is unique, and I’m passionate about fostering an environment where they can grow in their own way. I’m excited to see how we can continue expanding and helping as many children as possible.
Brittany Cekada
Director
I’m 34 years old and have lived in the Charles Town area for most of my life. I’m blessed to have a wonderful son, who is on the autism spectrum. Through my journey as a parent, I’ve learned the importance of patience and understanding.
I’ve been working in the early education field since I was 14, and I’m certified in CPR, First Aid, medicine training, food handling, and ACDS, with many hours of WV Stars training. I also have personal experience working with autistic children, which has deepened my passion for supporting all children.
I love working with children of all ages and find great joy in seeing them grow and learn. In my free time, I enjoy spending time near the water.
I truly believe that children learn best when they feel safe, happy, and secure. I strive to provide that environment for every child in my care.
